Step to the Future
Welcome to the web-site of Matsuyama Chuo High School!
Founded in 1987 (Showa 62 nd ), our school is the newest high school in Ehime focusing on general course study. As the school name represents, it is located in the center of Dogo plain. We have a distant view of Mt. Ishizuchi in the east, the Sea of Iyo in the west, Matsuyama castle in the north, and in the south, Shigenobu river flows by happily. Thus the school is surrounded by nature which gives students a good environment to spend their school years.
In addition, with the assistance of the PTA, Chuo is the first public school in Shikoku to set up air conditioners in its homerooms.
Our motto, “CENTRAL” has seven aims, one for each initial. The most strongly recognized, and the one students and teachers hold in great esteem, is “Challenge.”
Students can choose their course of study according to their interests, such as English and Medical courses. They can also take extra lessons on Saturday at their parents' request. We often hold open classroom observations for those interested in seeing how our students are educated.
Since this is the 20 th year following the founding of our school, we've been planning various events to commemorate the anniversary, such as the Central Marathon (21.1 km for boys and 10 km for girls) in winter and a kite-flying day in May among others.
Furthermore, we are designated as a Super English Language High School (SELHi) by MEXT. We are sure that it will reflect further developments of our school, which aims to train students to be able to react to internationalization and technology in the 21 st century.
We are always welcoming students who are interested in our school and educational policies.

The curriculum is designed for students to keep a balance between their academic subjects.
In the first year, consideration is given to a common curriculum and the chance for students to find their own aptitude.
In the second year, students have to select one of the four courses -English, humanities, Medical & nursing and the Sciences & Math -in accordance with their aptitude, ability, interest, future plans.
In the third year, the students actively prepare for the entrance examination of the college which they hope to enter.
Message from Assistant of Language Teacher
Hello! I’m Robert Morel, the A.L.T. (Assistant Language Teacher) at Matsuyama Chuo High School, and I am usually here at least twice a week. As the native English speaker at Chuo, I assist the Japanese Teachers of English with lessons. These team-taught lessons range from textbook-focused activities to conversation and games, and are usually popular with the students.
When I am not teaching lessons, I can usually be found in the teacher’s room or talking with students in the halls. I also participate in Inter-Act Club activities such as English conversation, games, or special activities. Last November, I cooked a turkey for the club and taught them a little about Thanksgiving in the U.S.A. This summer I will be assisting with a week-long summer English Camp for the special second-year English class.
Matsuyama Chuo is like my High School in Chicago in many ways. There are many smart, interesting students who will go on to college, and the teachers are kind and hardworking. Still, there are some big differences. My favorite one is all of the school festivals here. The undokai is my favorite-I wish my high school had a day like that! I feel lucky to be in Japan, surrounded by so many good people. I am grateful for all of the kindness I have received from the teachers and students at Matsuyama Chuo.
